Madden Named New Executive Director at USA Badminton
Colorado Springs, Colo. - The United States Badminton Association announced
today that Terry Madden of Colorado Springs will be the new USA Badminton Executive Director. Madden
replaces Cliff McPeak who resigned last March to follow personal interests. The selection completes a
two-month nationwide search of potential candidates to head USA Badminton, the National Governing Body
for the Olympic sport of Badminton.
Madden, 46, joins USA Badminton after a long and distinguished career in both law and finance. A member
of the Chicago Board of Trade, Madden has spent the last 18 years as a U.S. Treasury Bond and Treasury
Note Financial Futures Pit Broker. In 1979, Madden worked as the Secretary of the Corporation where he
reported directly to the Board of Directors and President on implementing policy matters, rules, and
regulations.
Prior to his stint at the Board of Trade, Madden worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas, Texas.
As a felony and misdemeanor prosecutor, he handled over 200 trials and hearings before the court.
Madden's enthusiasm for the Olympic spirit and the chance to become directly involved with the
development of Olympic athletes led him to Colorado Springs.
"The Olympic movement is important for our country, and I want to help provide a springboard in the sport
of Badminton for our athletes to excel. Badminton is a tremendously exciting sport that people of all ages
can play. I am very excited about developing and strengthening our grassroots programs so that we can
provide a solid foundation for our Olympic hopefuls."
"We are very excited to have Terry join USA Badminton. His successful track record and passion for the
Olympic spirit provide USA Badminton with determination, stability, and leadership," commented USA
Badminton president Diane Cornell.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Law in South Bend, Ind., Madden is a member
of the Board of Directors for the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation. He is married with three children.
