Englishmen edge Swedes in minnows tie

Kuala Lumpur, May 16: England defeated Sweden 4-1 in a meaningless Yellow Group battle between two European sides.

However, the Englishmen were made to struggle by the Swedes. Playing the three singles first, Colin Haughton lost 13-15, 11-15 to Sweden's Thomas Johansson.

Then Darren Hall evened the score when he defeated Rasmus Wengberg 14-17, 15-12, 15-12.

English pair Nathan Robertson-Simon Archer gave their team a 2-1 lead when they defeated the oldest pair in the tournament Par-Gunnar Jonsson-Peter Axelsson 15-9, 15-6.

England stretched their lead by another point when Mark Constable best Martin Hagberg 15-9, 15-12.

Anthony Clark-Ian Sullivan gave England the winningfourth point when they defeated Rasmus Wengberg-Frederik Bergstrom 15-8, 15-7.
