DANISH OPEN: POUL-ERIK, CAMILLA PICKED TO WIN

October 15, 1997 (NEW SHUTTLENWS) - Poul-Erik Hoyer-Larsen and Camilla Martin
have been picked as the probable winners of the singles events at the 4-star
Danish Open badminton championships being held this week. Hoyer, the Olympic
gold medalist, is the top seed in the men's singles event, while Martin, the
champion of the recent U.S. and German Open tournaments, is the number one
player in the women's singles event. Both athletes are from the host country
Denmark.
The top seeds in the other three events are also from Denmark. In the men's
doubles, Jon Holst-Christensen and Michael Sogaard are the number one picks.
Helene Kirkegaard and Rikke Olsen are their counterparts in the women's
doubles, while Jens Eriksen and Marlene Thomsen are the top entries in the
mixed doubles.
