TWO PLAYERS SUSPENDED FROM ENGLISH ELITE SQUAD
February 6, 1997 (NEW SHUTTLENWS) - According to sources at the Badminton
Association of England's National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes, two
players have been suspended from the national elite squad by Steve Baddeley,
England's director of elite player development. The two players are Nathan
Robertson and Ian Sullivan.
Robertson, a 19-year old doubles player with international potential, has
been suspended indefinitely. He had previously been taken off the team last
year for alchohol abuse.
Sullivan, also 19 years old, was suspended for one month from the elite
squad and also received a two-month suspension of financial subsidies from
the English badminton association.
