BADMINTON FEDERATION TO LAUNCH INTERNET SITE
IGPB Plans Badminton Cable TV Show
by Mike Grossman
December 14, 1996 (New Shuttlenws) - Sources close to the International
Badminton Federation have disclosed to New Shuttlenws that the federation
will be launching their own WorldWide Web site in the next several weeks.
The IBF website is expected to have general information about the sport
as well as rankings, tournament schedules, and press releases.
Lead members of the International Group for the Promotion of Badminton
who operate New Shuttlenws and the www.badminton.org website greeted the
planned IBF website launch with smiles and open arms as did the volunteers
at New Shuttlenws.
The IGPB and New Shuttlenws will be monitoring the information on the IBF
website when it launches and will adjust their news activities and coverage
to avoid any duplication.
The launch of the IBF website is expected to allow IGPB and New Shuttlenws
to devote more time to the planned New Shuttlenws badminton highlights show
on American cable TV.
The IGPB considers the planned New Shuttlenws TV show to be more strategic
to the growth of the sport in the U.S.A. than the New Shuttlenws e-mail
news service and website, because of its potential wider reach as well
as visual impact.
If the results of ongoing feasibility studies continue to be positive, the
New Shuttlenws TV show will debut in key television markets in the U.S.A. in
the spring of 1997.
