HO CHI MINH CITY HOSTS VIETNAM OPEN

November 19, 1996 (New Shuttlenws) - Ho Chi Minh City hosts this week's badminton Vietnam Open, the last individual tournament in the 1996 Grand Prix circuit.

With it being the final competition before the Grand Prix Finals, the tourney has drawn only a relatively weak field with 1992 Olympic men's singles bronze medalist Hermawan Susanto of Indonesia the only big-name entry.

The tourney is a last-chance event for some players who still have a hope of qualifying for the Grand Prix Finals - Zenq Yaqiong of China in women's singles, Lee Wan Wah and Choon Tan Fook of Malaysia in men's doubles, and Peng Xingyong and Zhang Jin of China in women's doubles.
