MEN'S DOUBLES TOP-SEEDS UPSET AT DANISH OPEN

October 19, 1996 (New Shuttlenws) - The top Danish badminton men's doubles pair of Thomas Lund and Jon Holst-Christensen were beaten in today's semifinals of the Danish Open in Middlefart by Thomas Stavngaard and Jim Laugesen, also of Denmark.

In the other men's doubles semifinal, second-seeds Chris Hunt and Simon Archer of England defeated Zhang Wei and Liu Yong of China.

In the championship match of the mixed doubles event, Michael Sogaard and Rikke Olsen of Denmark had an easy outing against fellow Danes Thomas Stavngaard and Ann Jorgensen to take top honours. Sogaard and Olsen demolished their opponents 15-5 and 15-1.
