Sonoma County League (SCL) Badminton - 2018

Competitive High School Badminton in Northern California. SCL is part of NCS. This site is the home of SCL Badminton until such time that an official SCL site takes over. The Sonoma County League (SCL) commissioner is Dave Ashworth. Note that next year SCL is disbanded and the badminton teams move back to NBL.

All coaches please send in results (all matches including JV and exhibition) directly after meets. Any format is fine- fax/email/mms /hardcopy dropped at Stan's house or even snail mail to Stan (ask if you don't know where). Easiest (probably): point your phone at the final scoresheet, snap a picture, and email or text it to me (stan@worldbadminton.com). You might also report to the Press Democrat at 707 526-8500. Schedule as revised August 18.

NOTE: This season all RCP home games will be played at RUP's gym.
ALSO: Petaluma and Analy have unique Easter vacations this year (see above) so some of their matches are rescheduled.

Post-Season

Selection of NCS team - tournaments played to completion. Top 5 players go on to NCS. Round Robin events are decided using USAB standard (matches, then games, then points). NOTE that these tournaments are to select the best players and are NOT the place for others to get court time.
- Friday, April 27 - SCL tournament preview - all coaches send number of players in each category to Stan. Quantities will be posted so that teams may fill in as needed.
- Wednesday, May 2 - Seeding meeting for SCL singles tournament. Format depends upon the number of entries but will likely be Round Robin or Double Elimination. Also selection of All League team, 5 PM at Analy, room 108. Bring names and season records. (final draws)(issues raised)

- Thursday, May 3 - SCL Singles Tournament. 4PM at Analy. Gym opens 3:30 for warmup. NOTE: players who do not qualify for singles on Thursday may enter doubles or mixed doubles on Friday.

- NBL Schedule - NBL Consists of Casa Grande, Maria Carillo, Montgomery, Santa Rosa, Windsor
- History - SCL Badminton started in 2015. In previous years all area Badminton was part of NBL. Starting in 2012 NCS and hence NBL split into Division I and Division II. Starting in 2015 NBL Division II schools moved into SCL while Division I schools stayed with NBL. This transition is highlighted by the Press Democrat in a 12 March 2015 article.
