NBL 5 to 9 Singles Invitational
Your first chance to size up the singles competition in NBL, and
to test out the IBF's new scoring system.
- First annual NBL Pre-season singles tournament.
- Sponsored by and played at Piner High School
- Thursday, March 6, 1997. Play starts at 4PM.
What is "5 to 9"?
The IBF has been experimenting with a fundamental change to the scoring
system which would replace all matches with the best of 5 games to 9
points each. They have requested that this be tested at all levels, so
we will be testing it in this tournament. Any comments that you care
to submit will be fed back to the IBF.
- All matches (boys and girls) are 5 games to 9 points.
- A 1 minute break between games is allowed, during which coaching is allowed.
- NO SETTING. First to 9 points wins.
- Due to time constraints the FIRST ROUND will be 3 games to 9 points.

There will be 4 singles events. Each will be limited to exactly 16 players
from NBL league teams.
