SUMMER 1996 GOLDEN BEAR TOURNAMENT XIX
               Saturday August 24th and Sunday August 25th
         UC Berkeley: RSF 2301 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA 94720

EVENTS: 
    A, B, C, D, flights for all events.  Participants may play a maximum
    of 2 flights per event.  Double and mixed teams must play with the
    same partner.  Participants playing in multiple flights should expect
    minimal or no rest time between matches.  The committee will place
    the team in the flight of the highest-ranking player.  E.g. a B player
    and a C player must play in the B flight and above.  The tournament 
    committee reserves the right to make any necessary  changes in the
    draw.

FORMAT:
    *   Single elimination with consolation round.  This may be modified
        as needed.

SANCTION:
    *   A, B, C Flights are santioned by the USBA.  All A, B, C players
   must show their current USBA ID cards at the registration desk,
   or pay a $5 tournament participation fee. 
DEADLINE:
    *   US mail:  All entries and fees must be postmarked by Monday
        August 19, 1996
    *   e-mailed:  By 6:00PM Thursday, August 22, 1996.  Note that fees
        for email entries must be postmarked by Monday, August 19, 1996.
    *   NO PHONE-IN ENTRIES.
    *   Fines & Penalty:  Late mail and late e-mail entries will be fined
        $5 per PLAYER.  Fee payments on the day of the tournament, will
        incur an additional $5 penalty.  

ENTRY FEES:
    *   $15 - 1 event (includes T-shirt)
          $22 - 2 events     
   $29 - 3 events
    *   $7 per additional events after the 3rd event.
    *   Please do not send cash -- check or money order only.

TIMES:
    Saturday:  Singles - 9:00AM       Mixed approximately - 1:00PM
    Sunday:    Doubles - 9:30AM
    *   The gym will open at 8:30 AM for warm-up.  
    *   15-minute default rule will be STRICTLY enforced. 
    *   Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with entry fees 
   for personal starting times or for a map to the gym.  
  
AWARDS:
    *   1st, 2nd, and consolation winners will receive awards.

SPECTATORS:
    *   Please include a list of guests that will accompany you to the 
        tournament so that we may include them on our guest list.

PARKING:
    Parking spaces are difficult to locate so please come early to claim
    the limited spaces.  There are 2-hour metered parking spaces along
    the street next to the RSF, or a $3.00 all-day parking lot directly
    across from the RSF.  The 2-hour metered parking spaces are enforced
    on Saturday but NOT Sunday.

MISC.:
    *   Shuttles will be available for $1.60 each or $20 a tube.
    *   No food, beverages, or lounge chairs are allowed in the gym.
    *   Be prepared to check-in food and drinks at the front desk.
    *   Players will be asked to sign a waiver before being allowed to
        play.

discharge the UC Berkeley Bamdinton Club, their officers, members, agents,
and administrators and any and all participants in this event harmless for
any bodily injury to myself or others, or for any damages to, or loss of
my property during the course of the event.  I have read this agreement,
understand its purpose and agree to its terms.
