PARK AND RA STILL WORLD NUMBER ONE IN MIXED DOUBLES August 9, 1996 (D.Shuttlenws) - Park Joo Bong and Ra Kyung Min of South Korea remain on top of the world rankings in mixed doubles in the list released yesterday by the International Badminton Federation. Park and Ra who lost in the finals of the mixed doubles event at the Atlanta Olympic Games last week kept their top ranking because of the tremendous lead in ranking points that they had amassed during the badminton federation's Olympic qualifying period. Even with their loss last week, Park and Ra still maintain a 92 point lead in the rankings over the Olympic gold medalists Kim Dong Moon and Gil Young Ah, also of South Korea. Kim and Gil moved up to the second spot with their Olympic victory, displacing Indonesians Trikus and Timur. Bronze medalists Liu Jianjun and Sun Man of China are at number 6, just behind the disappointing and disappointed English pair of Simon Archer and Julie Bradbury.
