DONG JIONG AND SUSI STILL TOPS IN WORLD RANKINGS July 5, 1996 (D.Shuttlenws) - China's Dong Jiong and Indonesia's Susi Susanti remained on top of the the latest monthly world rankings released by the International Badminton Federation on July 4. Dong leads the men's singles list followed by Joko Suprianto of Indonesia and Poul-Erik Hoyer-Larsen of Denmark. Susanti, who defends her Olympic gold medal later this month in Atlanta, stayed ahead of archrivals Ye Zhaoying of China and Bang Soo Hyun of Korea in women's singles. Ricky Subagja and Rexy Mainaky of Indonesia are ranked first in men's doubles with the Malaysian pair of Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock ranked second. Ge Fei and Gu Jun of China retained their top ranking in women's doubles followed by the Korean duo of Gil Young Ah and Jang Hye Ock. The Danish tandem of Lisbet Stuer-Lauridsen and Marlene Thomsen are ranked third. In mixed doubles, Park Joo Bong and Ra Kyung Min of Korea remain the leaders. Trikus and Timur of Indonesia are second and British Olympic medal contenders Simon Archer and Julie Bradbury are third.
