PUERTO RICO OPEN ADDED TO GRAND PRIX

April 2, 1996 (D.Shuttlenws) - The International Badminton Federation
has added a brand new tournament to the World Grand Prix series. The
tournament will be known as the Puerto Rico Open and will be held
from August 7 to August 11 on the island of Puerto Rico.

The Puerto Rico Open is the first Grand Prix event to be held in the
Caribbean and is part of the badminton federation's efforts to promote
the sport in the Americas.

The tournament is scheduled to take place right after the Olympic Games
in Atlanta and the organizers hope to attract a top flight entry and
perhaps Olympic medalists as well as badminton fans from outside Puerto
Rico to the championships.
