May 13, 1999 (NEW SHUTTLENWS) - Following are the round-robin match results for Team Canada at the world mixed team championships of badminton that is being played in Copenhagen, Denmark this week (Team USA was playing in Group A of the third division and was trying to win promotion to the second division):

Canada versus Finland - May 10 (Names of Canadian players first)
Canada lost to Finland 2 matches to 3
(Women's Singles - Denyse Julien lost to Anu Weckstrom 0 games to 2
Men's Doubles - Brent Olynyk and Iain Sydie lost to Ville Kinnunen and Ilkka Nyqvist 1-2
Men's Singles - Michael Beres lost to Jyri Aalto 0-2
Women's Doubles - Milaine Cloutier and Robbyn Hermitage beat Malin Virta and Marjanna Moilanen 2-0)
Mixed Doubles - Iain Sydie and Denyse Julien beat Mikko Franssila and Anu Weckstrom 2-0)

Canada versus Austria - May 12 (Names of Canadian players first)
Canada beat Austria 3 matches to 2
(Mixed Doubles - Iain Sydie and Denyse Julien beat Heimo Gotschl and Irina Serova 2-0
Men's Singles - Michael Beres lost to Jueren Koch 0-2
Women's Doubles - Milaine Cloutier and Robbyn Hermitage beat Irina Serova and Weilguni 2-0)
Women's Singles - Denyse Julien beat Tina Reidl 2-0
Men's Doubles - Brent Olynyk and Iain Sydie lost to Juergen Koch and Harald Koch 1-2)

Canada versus India - May 13 (Names of Canadian players first)
Canada beat India 3 matches to 2
(Mixed Doubles - Iain Sydie and Denyse Julien beat Vinod Kumar and Archana Deodhar 2-0
Men's Singles - Andrew Dabeka lost to Pullela Gopichand 0-2
Women's Singles - Kara Solmundson lost to Aparna Popat 0-2
Women's Doubles - Milaine Cloutier and Robbyn Hermitage beat Manjusha Kanwan and P.V.V. Lakshmi 2-0
Men's Doubles - Michael Beres and Iain Sydie beat Pullela Gopichand and Ismail Lobo 2-0)

Team Canada, India and Finland finished with identical 2 win - 1 loss records. India had the better games won-games lost ratio which is used as a tiebreaker and gained the right to play for promotion to the second division against Ukraine, the winner of Group 3B.

Team Canada came in second ahead of Finland after the tiebreaking system was applied and they will play Group 3B second-placer Hong KOng tomorrow to decide third and fourth places in division three.
