Guest Player Drop-In Information and Drop-in Schedule

GUEST PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Please be aware that we are currently unable to accept any guest player drop-ins for the foreseeable future, and all scheduled guest player drop-ins are on an indefinite hold. See below for more details and for possible updates to the Guest Player Drop-In Schedule at the bottom of this section.

Only registered Club Members or persons who have written permission in advance from the Club Executive are allowed in the gymnasium where the Club plays on Tuesday evenings.

_______________________________________________________

Guest Players need to bring their own badminton racquets, and all players must wear indoor-only, non-marking, soft-soled court shoes in the gym.

At this time, no drop-ins are scheduled for the 2019-20 Season. If we are able to accommodate any Guest Players, any possible drop-in date(s) for October 2019 and each subsequent month during the season will be posted during the first week of the month on the drop-in schedule regarding "Designated Tuesday Evenings Open for Guest Player Drop-Ins" at the bottom of this page. (Note: LDHBC does not accept any last minute "walk-ins" and therefore each drop-in spot must be reserved in advance by e-mail.)

Guest players are required to e-mail the Club in advance of any drop-ins on designated drop-in evenings at longfields-davidsonheights.bc@hotmail.com in order to reserve one of the four available guest player drop-in spots. E-mails must be received by the Club at least 24 to 48 hours before the specified designated drop-in evening. The Club does not accept requests from Club members or interested Guest Players on behalf of any other badminton players. Each interested Guest Player is required to send a separate e-mail from his or her own e-mail account directly to the Club with any request to drop-in on a designated Tuesday evening. Interested Guest Players must be between 18 and 65 years of age, and contact information must include a first and last name and a telephone number(s).

Each interested Guest Player will be notified whether or not the Club is able to accommodate his or her request to drop-in on the specified evening. Only Guest Players who receive e-mail confirmation from the Club Executive that they may drop-in as a guest player on a specified designated evening will be allowed to play at the Club.

See the bottom of this page for any updates to the  drop-in schedule regarding "Designated Tuesday Evenings Open for Guest Player Drop-Ins."

GUEST PLAYER REQUIREMENTS

If we are able to accommodate any Guest Player drop-ins, Guest Players (between 18 and 65 years of age) will be allowed to play on specific designated Tuesdays drop-in evenings from 8 to 10 p.m. for a $4 drop-in fee each. These designated drop-in evenings are primarily for non-member badminton players who are interested in checking out the Club for possible future membership. Guest Players must bring their own badminton racquets, and all players must wear indoor-only, non-marking, soft-soled court shoes in the gym.

There is a maximum of four Guest Players allowed per designated evening, so interested guest players need to e-mail the Club at least 24 to 48 hours in advance to reserve one of the available drop-in spots.

At this time, no drop-ins are scheduled for the 2019-20 Season. See below for any updates to the drop-in schedule regarding "Designated Tuesday Evenings Open for Guest Player Drop-Ins." The schedule for Guest Players may be subject to last-minute changes and/or cancellations, and interested guest players are advised to check this section regularly for any updates to the schedule. Guest Players are not allowed at the Club on evenings when special events or activities are being held for Club Members Only.

Guest players are required to e-mail the Club at longfields-davidsonheights.bc@hotmail.com in order to reserve one of the four available guest player drop-in spots. Contact information must include a first and last name and a telephone number(s). Each interested Guest Player will be notified whether or not the Club is able to accommodate his or her request to drop-in on the specified evening. Please keep in mind that the Club may receive a high number of e-mail requests from interested players for the available drop-in spots on a designated evening.

Only Guest Players who receive e-mail confirmation from the Club Executive that they may drop-in as a guest player on a specified designated evening will be allowed to play at the Club. The drop-in fee is $4 (please bring exact change only) for each Guest Player, regardless of their arrival time at the Club. Guest Players must be between 18 and 65 years of age, and they must wear indoor-only, non-marking, soft-soled court shoes in the gymnasium.

Guest Players are subject to the same terms and conditions as Club Members when they sign in at the Club. When arriving at the Club, Guest Players are required to meet first with an Executive Member of the Club, who will collect their sign-in information and guest fees before assigning Guest Player nametags to them for the Club's Gameboard. Guest players are not allowed to drop-in on a regular basis, or to drop-in for more than a total maximum of four times during the 2019-2020 Full Season. Club members will always have first priority in regards to court time over guest players when the courts are full.

Guest Player drop-in is not to be considered as a substitute for membership at the Club, so non-member badminton players looking to play on a regular or weekly basis are encouraged to consider drop-in programmes at community recreational centres in the city or to apply for membership with a club that is able to accept new members.

For information about community centre drop-in programmes and other badminton clubs in Ottawa, go to the Ottawa District Badminton Association (ODBA) website at www.badmintonottawa.com and select "Where to Play" to access the links to City of Ottawa Drop-In Badminton Programmes, including the Walter Baker Sports Centre (Jockvale Elementary School), Nepean Sportsplex, and the new Minto Barrhaven Recreation Complex badminton programmes, and to see the complete list of the Adult Affiliated Clubs with the ODBA.
